Italy Predicament...

Is it safe to leave belongings in a car if we are traveling from town to town in Tuscany?>>
wormin - it probably is, so long as you don't do what my italian teacher did and leave the window open! [nothing got stolen though] seriously, it's a safe as in any big city so long as you follow sensible precautions such as putting all valuables out of sight, not leaving a tomtom [or signs that you own one] visible, hiding all maps and things that mark you out as tourists, etc. etc.
when you've done all that, try to park the car with the rear end [boot or hatchback door] hard up against a wall or a tree so that it can't be opened from the outside.
and remember to close all the windows and doors and lock it!

Siena, park at the Stadio..follow signs with soccer ball, convenient, easy, inexpensive.
Florence..we were surprised how uncrowded it was last week vs another trip there a few years ago in October.
Stay in Florence a few days and then move to a more rural area in Tuscany for another stay.
Bologna..loved it as it is a university city, filled with historic buildings. Few tourists.
Food was very good but we found it was wonderful everywhere we traveled in Italy as long as we did some research first.
