Hi Deb.

Are you traveling alone? My husband and a girlfriend and I will be in Tuscany from Oct. 1-7. We're still trying to determine where we will stay and are debating whether we should book a hotel in Florence and take side trips to Venice, Rome, Siena, etc.
Yolie,
No I'll be traveling with my man. My suggestion to you is to base yourself in Florence and take side trips to Tuscany. You could also take a day trip to Venice, I suppose, but Venice is a fabulous place and should be enjoyed for more than one day !!
Deb

Deb,

Venice as a day trip from Florence is a waste, as is Rome. It's like a drop of Champagne, instead of a glass, or the bottle. Don't do this. If you want to be based in Florence for the whole trip, do Tuscany, and even Umbria. Rome and Venice deserve to be visited on their own, never as side trips. You'd be commuting for at least five hours, I wonder how much time would be left, with so much to be seen...

Surlok
