Italy in May suggestions
My husband and I are planning a trip to Italy this May. So far we are going to spend 2 days in Venice, 2 nights in Florence, 1 night in Chianti Radda or some place in Tuscany. And then we were thinking of renting a car and driving through Pisa and Portofino, dropping the car off in Milan and taking the train to Lake Como/Bellagio for 2 nights, then back to Milan and flying home. We want to spend the last 2-3 days relaxing in a beautiful spot. Any suggestions on whether it would be better to take a ferry over to Corsica or to go to the Amalfi Coast for 2-3 days (instead of Lake Como area)? How long does it take to get from Florence/Tuscany to Amalfi (by car or train)? Thank you very much for any suggestions!!!

We are now thinking Lake Como may be too far away (we are trying to cut down on too much traveling). So we are now leaning towards staying in the Santa Margherita Ligure area and seeing Portofino and maybe doing a day hike in Cinque Terre. Does any one have any recommendations about the Grand Hotel Miramare (in Santa Margherita) or the Grand Hotel Villa Balbi (in Sestri Levante)? Any suggestions about a nice hotel (not too expensive) in Milan to spend the last night of our trip? Thank you very much for all suggestions!

We were in Italy last May and did stay in the Lake Como area part of the time. I sure hope you don't drop that idea. It is so very lovely and peaceful! I my dreams I am there again! What ever you do enjoy! Italy is beautiful and May is a lovely time to visit.

How warm if the Lake Como area in May? Warm enough to swim? Where did you stay? Do you think it would be a good idea to cut back our time in Venice (from 2 nights to 1) so we have a little extra time to go to Lake Como area? Thank you!
