My husband and I will be traveling to Italy in March. Our trip includes 4 days in Rome and one day trip to Florence. We would like to extend our time in Italy and need suggestions for a 2 to 5 day extention. <BR>Thank-you

I would suggest perhaps another day in Florence. It is a wonderful city and one day will be too short I am afraid. <BR> <BR>You might also consider the train to Venice if you extend. You could train up one day, overnight, spend the next day, then train back that evening. <BR> <BR>Other options would be train to Lake Como area, another wonderful place. To do this area justice I would allow at least two days. <BR> <BR>Hope this helps.

Kathie, <BR>I agree with Bill. Florence is most certainly at least a two day stay. Accademia, Uffizi, Boboli Gardens, the duomo. It is a compact city but there is alot to see in two days so you will be busy. And I would not miss Venice if you have never been there. It is an amazing place. Doge's palace is a must. <BR> <BR>Sounds like a great trip.

While I would second an added day in Florence, don't forget Rome! <BR> <BR>There is &gt;so&lt; much to see there, and four days (is that four full days, or two full and two part?) is just barely enough to skim the surface. Please make sure you have at least four full days ... better, at least six. If you have questions about how you'd spend extended time in Rome drop me a note. <BR> <BR>On a short trip like this unless you enjoy packing/unpacking and checking in and out of hotels consider adding a day trip (from Rome) to an Assisi or Orvieto, as examples. <BR> <BR>Ed

I agree about Florence, staying there more time is a good idea, in fact, you will be disappointed if you don't. March is a good time to go, especially early March (less touristy). Also I hear Siena is worth a visit--very close to Florence and similar atmosphere--in fact it's kind of a competitor with Florence. I have not been there, though, so can't give you exact specifics. <BR> <BR>I have also heard good things about the Lake Como area--I have friends who rented bikes while they were there and really enjoyed it. Plus the Umbria region is a great one to visit for its hill towns.
