Italy

Hi all! Heading to Italy soon and can’t decide train or rent a car? Yes,trains seem easy for the main cities, but I’d also like to visit some smaller places and countryside. Is a car worth or should I just stick with trains? What do you recommend? Thanks

The itinerary is required to answer. What many do is rent a car for only the rural portion of their stay.

Don’t ignore buses as they often go places trains can’t.

I want to go to somewhere
what is the best way to get there
seriously?
I guess, if you are not paying for advice that is what you value it as, nothing, not even worth asking the question.

In your case my standard advice is to rent a car for at least three days of a two week vacation. This will give you the opportunity to visit truly off the beaten path places with great freedom.

And another vote for investigating bus routes. They go to more places, more often than trains.

the best tool to start with is rome2rio don't trust the result but you can click through to the raw data behind. In Italy you have to spell places names correctly.
