Italians renouncing concert and museum refunds

This morning on the news I heard of a laudible and altruistic gesture. Many Italians who had concert, theatre, and museum tickets cancelled are renouncing their right to a refund, knowing that these institutions were already struggling to stay afloat. We intend to do the same.

I have tickets to a national touring production that has been cancelled here in NC, USA. I have the choice to receive a refund or accepting the revised date in June. I chose the June date.

This is a little different, because these people are not getting even a future show or exhibit. (In many cases, it wouldn't be possible.) They're just saying, "Keep my money, I'm sure you need it."

However, accepting a future show instead of asking for a refund is also helpful.

I was surprised that they were able to contact all the tour venues and determine a revised schedule so quickly.

We are taking the refunds to donate to a food bank.

I would like to donate refunds from some concert tickets to the local artists who will be most impacted by the cancellation of JazzFest (which hasn't been cancelled yet, but surely will be). I'll have to figure out how to accomplish that.
