Can anyone suggest which towns to visit on the Italian Riviera. Hotels/restaurant recommendation is also appreciated.

I'm not sure how you are defining the Italian Riviera, but our favorites on the Ligurian/Tuscan coast are Camogli (just south of Genoa), Portofino,Rapallo, the Cinque Terre towns, Forte dei Marmi, and Viareggio. Each is slightly different. Viareggio probably comes closest to "riviera like" as it has the old hotels and the big beach. Farther north the towns are pretty small sandwiched between the water and the hilly coast. Portofino is quite posh. If you want to be farther north, San Remo is best known and very similar to the French Riviera. Lots of hotel recommendation on this forum for Cinque Terre. I recommend Cenobio dei Doge in Camogli, The Splendido in Portofino and the Palace in Viareggio.

I stayed 2 nights in Santa Margherita Liguria which I found to be a perfect base to explore both Cinque Terre and Portofino. The place I stayed was Hotel Jolanda which I can completely recommend!
