Istanbul Pumakale Antalya itinerary help
hi there.
My husband and I are flying to Turkey for 9 days from NYC to Istanbul in June.
I would like to make it a beach vacation in Antalya with a sightseeing trip to Pumakkale.
should we fly from Istanbul to Denizli and stay overnight in Pumakkale, to avoid the crowds, and then drive to Antalya? Can we hire a private driver to Antalya from there? Any recos here?
or should we fly to Antalya directly from Istanbul and do one of those day trips to Pummakale?
wanted to avoid getting up at 4am and the crowds, but don’t know what makes the most sense.
please advise from your experience. Thank you so much for your help.

Denizli airport to Pamukkale is about 40 miles.
Pamukkale to Antalya is about 200 miles.
Denizli airport has Avis and Budget which may allow one way rentals.
Whether you fly to Denizli and drive to antalya or drive from Antalya to pamukkale and back, you will probably need to spend a night at Pamukkale.
If you can find an early flight to Denizli and rent your car, you will also be able to visit Aphrodisias on that day in addition to Pamukkale and Hieropolis.
Having a car in Antalya will also be useful in case you wish to visit sites and beaches in the region unless you are staying at an all inclusive resort.
Antalya is a large province and the various satellite resorts are not closeto each other. Even Lara area which is the closest may take up to one hour from city center or airport due to traffic.
Transfer costs by shuttle or taxi may also make consideration of rental car quite wise.
Best all inclusive hotels are at Belek and Side region.
Best sand at Side area
Most crowded will be Lara and konya alti as well as Antalya itself, followed by Kemer
Beldibi, Goynuk, Kemer and Tekirova have mostly pebbly beaches.
Most luxurious hotels, some with golf courses will be at Belek
The least crowded and serene areas with high mountains and great pine smells are at Beldibi and Goynuk.
Good luck with your choice..

You will not regret spending the night in Pamukkale. You need a whole day to see Hierapolis and tkae wonderful pics of the mineral thermal waters. If you don't want to be rushed a night in relaxing Pamukkale is a good idea.
