Istanbul-Hotel Turkuaz or Turkoman?

Would like to stay 3/4 days in reasonable but historic place in Istanbul. Out of all online these two seem really nice...has anyone ever stayed...what do you think? Any suggestions....Thanks

I didn't visit any of the properties. Regarding location only, IMO the Turkoman is better, some 700 mts closer to Sultanhamet sites. If you like fish, dining out in Kumpkapi (dozens of restaurants in a traffic free area) is a must. The Turkuaz would be at walkable distance (600 mts).

We stayed at the special class hotel Spina (approx. US$80 including airport transfers, less if you're good at bargaining). Location is hard to beat, in the heart of Sultanhamet. Building is a restored Ottoman house. Rooms have all ammenities including a/c, clean, nice and relatively large. Staff is very nice.
http://www.istanbulhotels.com/spina/english.htm
http://www.hotelcity.com/turkey/spina.htm

Paulo

The only place to stay in historic Istanbul is the Four Seasons...if you have a fat wallet. Former prison and the site of the movie "Midnight Express," it is lovely and superbly located.
Nearby is the Empress Zoe, unique and quirky, and run by an American woman with lots of valuable advice.
Another choice is the Hotel Nomade. Charming rooftop cafe overlooking the old city, great location, and there is a wonderful restaurant right across the street. I stayed here last year and would return again. Extremely helpful staff, elevator.

I've got reervations at the Blue House hotel (Mavi Ev) for my trip this summer. It's in Sultanhamet, near the Four Seasons, but is moderately-priced. It's gotten a lot of good reviews from people who've stayed there.
Here's the website:
http://www.bluehouse.com.tr/index2.htm
Were trying to do a deal with the hotels right now.
We got a great flight deal through thomascook.com
We are now surfing for hotel deals through istanbulhotels.com. They are amazing web sites! and really good discounts although you can haggle on the phone.
Well be staying at a 5* hotel for the same price as the 3* travel agent prices with the discount on the flights.
Transfers are organized by the 4* and 5* hotels for you.
Ill let yoyu know how we got on over there!
