Just back, yesterday, from Nice in the South of France. Had several days on the beach, some people were swimming. Oranges on the trees in the city.

Ha ha, the oranges are still on the trees whether it snows or not.

Hi annhig - we didn't drive there from London!

We flew to Rome and drove to Montepulciano for the week, doing day trips from there of about an hours drive. We took the eurostar and train to Dijon and then drove to Beaune for a week, doing short day trips from there!

well, i did wonder, Jamikins.

I agree that it can be useful to have a car to get around -once you've arrived at your "hub"- that's what we often do too.

Yes hub and spoke rather than long road trips for us in winter!!!
