Is this the best way to get to Rue du Bac?
Hi there,
Last minute question as we ready ourselves for our Wednesday departure...
Our apt is a block away from Rue du Bac (at r. Grenelle & Boulevard Raspail) and we're trying to map out how we'd get there via RER/Metro, should we opt not to take a private shuttle.
I've looked at our maps and checked online. If I'm reading ratp's directions correctly, we would need to do the following:
RER B to Chatelet-Les Halles (34 min)
Metro 4 to St. Germain de Pres (5 min)
Walk to Rue du Bac (10 min)
Is this the best route?

I agree it is the best solution. However, I would add a few minutes overall, including 10 minutes for the connection between RER and metro.
Once the RER has left the airport area, you should be arriving at rue du bac roughly after 1 hour.

You could do that but, if you haven't been to Paris, previously, Chatelet is HUGE and If I remember correctly, it takes a loooong walk to find the correct Correspondance for Metro Line 4 - Direction Porte d'Orleans coming from the RER B stop. There is also quite a walk at the end from Metro St. Germain to your hotel. You might be better off taking what I think would be a more convenient route even though it involves an extra change.
RER B Direction Robinson / St.Remy Les Chevreuse
Get off at La Chapelle and find Correspondance
for Metro 4 Direction Porte de Clignacourt
Get off at Marcardet Poissoniers
Take Metro 12 Direction Mairie d'Issy
Get off at Metro Rue du Bac.
Hope that helps?

Thanks everyone. Judging from your responses, and after reading through the apartment agency's FAQ's, perhaps a more logistically convenient option would be:
RER B from CDG to St. Michel
Taxi to the apartment
About how much would that cost?

Find the nearest bus stop to your hotel using http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...2&tid=34987572
Then see if any of the lines serving that neighborhood intersect RER B at any convenient point.
IME, getting from an RER station to a bus is most frequently less trouble than connecting to a Métro line.

hey susanna - yes! it's here. by the way, does the laptop in the apt connect to the Internet wirelessly or via cable? was it stocked with detergent for the washer?
Thanks avalon and robespierre! Taxi from St. Michel looks like the way to go. And, I found helpful instructions on how to get from CDG to Paris by train:

The lap top is all hooked up and ready to go, yes, it is connected with a cable, not wireless.
I don't remember buying dish or laundry soap, I did wash both, I was there for 10 days, so I think that it was there under the kitchen sink. I did have to buy tp, there were 2-3 rolls when I arrived. Besides the great Bon Marche market which is about 3-4 blocks away, there are two small markets on the same street, exit the building, turn left and the one on the corner will have anything that you need.

Paris - What's a Cat 5E cable?
Thanks Susanna. We're toying with whether or not to bring one of our laptops as yours truly may have to do a little work. Yuck! If I can hustle up over the next day or so, I may be able to avoid it all together. Praying for that to happen!
