Just me personally, but I would not book a Paris hotel through a Russian agency. I prefer to query hotels directly either via fax, phone or email. I would only pre-book and pay with a credit card, if the company was very well known, I have used Hotelbook.com and Tripres.com but both for hotels in the USA. I did use an online booking service in Greece but only after I checked in Fodor's and Frommer's and saw them listed.

If you are trying to book a Paris hotel over the web you might try hotelboulevard.com. They have been mentioned a few times on this board. I booked a hotel with them over the internet last year without a problem. My recollection is that you don't need a credit card - you pay at the hotel. I hope this helps - I too would avoid the Russian based paris hotel booking website.

I would not trust ANY website that does not give a clear way to contact them via the telephone in case of difficulty (or one that discourages phone calls--see some colorful threads on www.romanhomes.com). Even smaller booking agencies often provide a phone number (I booked apartments in Russia from individuals, and was comforted by the clear way contact information was presented). <BR>
