Salman, you really don't need to spend that much time in Milan. My recommendation:
June 28 Milan
June 29,30,31 Como (only about 1 hour by train)
July 1, 2 Venice
July 3, 4, 5 Florence, maybe Tuscany area w/ day trip into Florence?
July 6, 7, 8 Rome
July 9 fly out of Rome

Pompeii would really be a rush, but it's up to you.

There shouldn't be much price difference, if any, to return from Rome. I'm into Milan and out of Venice and it was actually cheaper than returning from Milan! You may have your work cut out for you finding hotels at this point. Do a search for hotel webs sites. There have been lots of good recommendations here at Fodors. One of the best is www.venere.it. You can make reservations right on line. Good luck and congratulations!

Hi Salman:
Suggested Itinerary: Think in terms of where you will spend your nights.

28 June- Arrive Milan and train directly to Varenna or Bellagio. Very doable. Stay in Varenna or Bellagio.

29 June- Stay in Varenna or Bellagio.

30 June- Train to Verona. Stay in Verona. Very doable.

1 July- Train to Venice. Stay in Venice.

2 July- Stay in Venice.

3 July- Train to Florence. Stay in Florence.

4 July- Stay in Florence.

5 July- Train to Rome. Stay in Rome.

6 July- Stay in Rome. Visit Pompei. This might be a stretch.

7 July- Stay in Rome.

8 July- Train to Milan. Stay in Milan.

9 July- Return home.

Salman, this seems to be a little ambitious for a honeymoon. You could skip Verona or Florence and spend the extra time in Bellagio, Venice or Rome.

In any case it sounds great. Have a great time and congratulations!!!! Paul J

Salman
I also think your original is too busy, too much packing and unpacking, and too much time lost on traveling.
Here's a variation on a theme
Arrive in Milan, train to Lake area
Stay in Varenna or Bellagion. Spend the night of the 28th, 29th, and 30th.
On July 1, leave for Venice. Stay in Venice July 1, 2, 3. Late on the 3rd or early on the 4th, leave for Florence. Stay in Florence on the 4th and 5th. On the 6th, leave for Rome, and stay there for the 6th,7th,8th (optional day trip to Pompei) and go home from there on the 9th.

Salman,

You're getting very good advice. Assuming that this is your first trip to Italy, I'd only make one other suggestion. I'd do Elaine's itinerary, but I'd delete one night in Venice and add it into Florence. Venice hotels and food aren't the best for the money, and Florence allows you to daytrip to Pisa or Sienna. Have a great time, and best wishes!
