Is this a Holiday in Italy??
We're planning a trip to Italy in August and will have only 2 days in Verona, August 14 and 15.
We want to attend the opera on the 15th and see some of the city. I don't know Italy well. I know much is closed on Mondays in France- what about Italy?
Also, someone told me they thought August 15th was a National holiday!? Anyone know? I assume this means everything will be closed!
Help! Please!!

August 15 is Ferragusto or the feast of the Assumption, a major holiday in Italy. All banks and offices, and most stores, will be closed that day, but places catering for tourists and locals on holiday will be open, such as most museums, churches and other sights as well as restaurants, bars and cafes, unless they are already closed for August. Being Italy, it's hard to be sure if a particular place will be open or not, so you may have to make local inquiry.
