Is there scaffolding up on part of Notre Dame?

I was noodling around early this morning and from boredom more than anything else, checked out a Paris webcam. The shot of N.D. was from quite a distance, but it appeared that there was scaffolding around the right hand side bell tower. (Rt. hand side from the back of the cathedral, that is, looking from east to west).

What puzzled me about it was this: when we were last there in May 2001, the bldg. had just finished being cleaned, and really looked beautiful. Surely it isn't grimy again already!

Did my eyes deceive me, or is there scaffolding up again...and if so, for what purpose?

The scaffolding was up in June 2003, and in the same area you saw on the webcam. Why, I do not know.

I've been to Paris 5 times between 1998 and 2001 and have only ever seen it with scaffolding!

I think the scaffold union is still on strike for a 33 hour work week and better wine at lunch.
