Re: Ferry from Venice to Ismar, Turkey?
Husband taking motorcycle trip. Does the Ferry go from Venice to Ismar? What are the days of week and times? Is there a website for this? Thank you!

If you don't get a direct answer, this might help:

- The Turkish city is Izmir, not Ismar, and that's probably why you can't get an answer on google. The port of Cesme is nearby.
- There have also over the years been ferries to Italy's Adriatic coast from Marmaris and Bodrum.
- Routes come and go each year, but those ferries have served Bari and/or Ancona. Some, sometimes have served Venice.

He may well find it more fun to cycle down the Italian coast to pick up a boat at Bari than stare at the (often spectacularly dull and gloomy) Adriatic - and nothing else - for a day or two.

Happy surfing.

Thank you for the fast reply and information. I will pass on your info to him.
He and friend have motorcycles in Milan and have taken annual trips to Italy; one of the trips he went to Sicily by ferry and then motorcycle back to Milan.

Definitely tell him to consider Flanner's suggestion of biking down the length of the boot to Ancona or Bari, too. Although on ferries such as Superfast that would only get him as far as Patras in Greece.

Turkish Maritime Lines used to run from Venezia to Izmir, but don't any more. The only ferries from Italy to Turkey now run from Ancona or Brindisi. See www.marmaralines.com or www.mesline.com.
There are ferries from Venezia to Greece (www.minoan.gr and www.anek.gr) and many people heading for Turkey now go to Igoumenitsa then cross Greece by road to Turkey.
