Is the Vatican Scavi Tour Worth it?
Hey everyone,
My family is going to Rome in Sept and I just got confirmation that we have spaces on teh tour...but they arent on the day that I wanted and we have something else planned taht day. I can rearrange our "schedule" to accomodate it...
Thanks!
Jamie

Hi Jamikins, I personally loved this tour. It's my favorite of any I have been on. I have only seen 1 or 2 people on this forum say they didn't think it was that great. I think if you have any interest in history, religion, or archeology, you will really enjoy it. My advice is to reaarange your schedule. Whatever you decide, have a wonderful time in Rome! pp

its "worth it" if you are interested in the history of the Christian Faith or archeology (in those cases its fascinating and potentially inspirational, even awe-inspiring). If thats not the kind of thing you care about it may not be worth it to you.
Its also more of a fascinating mystery story - which you see the evidence of - more than a sight, though the christian-pagan cemetery that is part of it is interesting to look at.
good luck!

My family found the SCAVI tour a highlight on our trip. The guide was young and energetic, the "story" well told and it was fascinating to see what was under St. Peter's and why. Anyone with an interest in archeology and curiousity about the site would be glad that they spent the time there. Also, after bearing with the crowds in the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's, being part of a small group is appreciated.
