Is nine days too long in Sevilla
My family is planning a trip next April to Sevilla. I am wondering whether to spend the entire nine days in Sevilla or to venture down to Cadiz and possibly over to Evora, Portugal (which we missed when we were in Portugal two Years ago)

The answer to your question depends on what kind of trip you want. I once spent a week in Seville staying with friends in the Barrio Stana Cruz where trhey were living for the year. We did go to Granda for an over night during that time. But mistly I "lived" in Sevilla -- I got into the rhythm of the life and had a *blast*. [did my first tapas and learned to love the siesta

Hi! We spent nine days in Sevilla in October a couple of years ago and we loved it. There is certainly enough to do...including day trips. We took a tour to Granada and a tour to the horse show and sherry tour (I forget the town...) We went to Cordoba by train, on our own. We LOVED Sevilla. Have a great trip. I'm jealous!!!

Dear Anne,

You can easily spend you nine days based in Sevilla, especially if you are planning day trips and will be in the city during "Feiria". Besides Cadiz, Jerez de la Frontera ( for Andalusian horse shows and Sherry Bodegas), don't miss Arcos de La Frontera and Carmona. All are easy day trips.

Anne,
I agree with everyone that 9 days isn't too much time at all in Seville. I find I never have enough time there (and we allow at least 3-4 days but always wish for more), and I'm very envious of some of my students who have the luxury of spending an entire semester there! Use Seville as your base to explore ancient Cadiz, the sherry triangle of Jerez, Sanlucar de Barrameda and Puerto de Santa Maria, the white hill towns (Grazalema, Arcos, Zahara de la Sierra, the Paleolithic cave paintings at Cueva La Pileta outside of Benajoan, and wonderful Ronda), the Atlantic coastal beaches around Conil and the vast Nature Reserve, the Coto Donana, plus interesting Carmona and the Roman ruins of Italica are close at hand. So much to see, plus Seville, I think, is at its most beautiful in April. Have a great stay!

I don´t think you will be bored if spending nine days in Sevilla. To Maribel´s list I would add Aracena and its beautiful cave or Cazalla and Cerro del Hierro area. All the above mentioned places will show off at their best since I consider March/April/May the golden triangle to visit this city.
