Is it too early too book rooms for May?
Going to Amsterdam, Paris, and Arles in May (traveling alone). I already have first-choice hotels for each destination (2*). Is it too early to book? Am nervous about my reservation getting lost this far in advance. Suggestions welcome!

As long as the hotels have decent cancellation policies, you might as well book. You can follow up between now and May to ensure that the reservations are OK, and to see if you can find better prices.

I would definitely book now so as to get 1st choice of your lodgings. My 2.5 week vacation in late May is already booked fully (except for things like train tickets and dinner reservations).
You can always email the properties a few weeks in advance to make sure they still have you on file. And save email confirmations!

Great advice, and I'm going for it. I've got my Amsterdam first choice all set, but my Arles first choice (Le Calendal) is already booked with a tour group (tant pis pour moi). Am awaiting response from my second choice. I'm glad I started now!
