Is it raining throughout Europe now?

I am leaving 7/4 for 3 weeks to Europe northern Italy, Montreux Switz, and Normandy, Burgundy Paris and Loire Valley France.

Wether.com says there is a lot of rain everywhere but Italy and it seems somewhat cool as well. 60s and low 70s. Is this normal for late June early July?

I was hoping for warm and dry weather of course.

Don't pay much attention to the weather reports! I went to Normandy April 24 for 2 weeks, and weather.com, etc. all said it would be rainy for those first 10 days. Never rained hardly at all. When it did, was just a light drizzle.
But DO take a raincoat and unbrella anyway!

Notwithstanding Sue4's otherwise accurate response, the answer to your question is "yes". I have never had the heating on in June before.

We had a torrential downpour yesterday afternoon in Brussels and it's supposed to rain today, but it's not now. Very cloudy though and definitely cooler than it was the beginning of this past week. Not cold though, a light jacket or cotton sweater is all I need.

The forecast here (Holland) is for cool, and wet the coming week, but that is not true of all of Europe of course. Many areas are enjoying (?) very warm temps. The forecast for the beginning of July is for better weather in Northern Europe. Pack a waterproof jacket - just in case.
And we're all hoping for warm dry weather

Guete Morge!

It's a beautiful morning in sunny Switzerland. We've been cleaning up flood damage all over Switzerland over the past few days. We've been having thunderstorms almost daily and I for one am getting tired of it.

It's been a rainy month but lots of sunny breaks in between. It does look like it will be cool the next week but it can easily warm up afterwards.

After living here over twenty years, I find there are expectations as to what a summer should be like and the reality of what it is. If we get four weeks of typical summer weather in the summer months, we're quite happy.

Have a look at http://tinyurl.com/2m8xmk for the shower radar - it shows you where the rain is in Europe now - over SW UK, Brittany, and Normandy - heading for Holland! The rest of Europe looks pretty clear.
The forecast is still for it to improve from next weekend, as the Azores high builds.

When we did our vacations in Austria's rural Styria, the weather alternated between blistering heat and severe flooding. The locals shrugged and quoted the regional maxim: "If it's hot, be thankful it's not raining. If it's raining, be thankful it's not hot!"

I was in Lorraine for two days in the rain(e) and returned to rain in Paris. It is true that a number of people have had the heat on in Paris this month.

But temperatures are very erratic -- it can go from 15°C one day to 25°C the next and then back to 15°C.

That darn global climate change!!

Dontcha just long for the days when the mastodons frolicked along the banks of the Kentucky river, and there was 40 feet of ice covering the entire state of Wisconsin?

Best wishes,

Rex
