Is Aramis Best Western a dump or a delight?

Rita:

I don't know this hotel, or even which city or town it's in, but you can pretty much rest assured that any Best Western in Europe will be a very nice property. They bear little if any relationship to what you think of as a Best Western in the USA (not to belittle those hotels, but the European ones aren't cookie-cutter at all).

There are two hotels right near each other with similar names that people sometimes get confused -- the Aramis and the Acacias something. I think the Acacias is somewhat nicer from what I've read. I would try to find out from someone who'd stayed there after renovation as I've heard negative comments also and ALL Best Westerns in Europe are not necessary very nice, although many are. Many are of modest, average level. I've stayed in one in Paris that was simply adequate but not scary, it could not be described as "very nice"; I would never recommend or go back to it, my room was rather unpleasant, dark, small and no ventilation, and extremely noisy. As far as location, I really dislike rue de Rennes myself and would not stay on it for noise, traffic, dirt, and appearance, but some people don't mind it. It's convenient enough and not far from things.

What a coincidence, I just found a post on these two and I had confused the two names myself, apparently the BW is nicer than the Acacias (although I've still heard negative comments on the BW). I forget the name of the post but it's near the top somewhere on this topic, you can search on the name Aramis probably.
