Irish Travel Board

Leaving for Ireland soon. I have read threads about contacting the Irish Travel Board for information. I under stand it is in New York City?!? If so, does anyone have their phone number or web site? I have had no luck either way.

The package I received few weeks ago was not very helpful, just three B&B books and one magazine. It didn’t include any maps or useful information.

Tourism Ireland has changed over the last few years and outsourced their call centers. I called recently and they didn't even know what the Town & Country Book was!!! This year they told me that they had not received their maps for this year. I still have yet to receive the Farmhouse B&B book for 2005. The company is obviously in flux with people answering the phones who don't have a clue. You need to ask for specific items to be sent to you and even then they might not have them.

Send any complaints to the Minister of Tourism:

Minister John O'Donoghue,
Department of Arts, Sports & Tourism,
Frederick Buildings,
South Frederick Street,
Dublin 2.
Email: [email protected]
Tel: 01-631 3802

Maybe they need a wake-up call.

Yes, they have an 800 number -- it was posted on this board last year. Try doing a google search. I got lots of great info from them, including a B&B book, farmhouse B&B book, maps, etc. Great stuff, all for free.

Janhan, we had to call a couple of times last year to get anything from them, they have definitely gone downhill. My husband even went to their office in NYC before our last trip, and they didn't have the T&C B&B book in stock. Very disappointing! I hope you have better luck.

Why not try their web site?

www.ireland.ie

You can do accommodation searches, trip routing with printable directions and maps (although I prefer www.aaroadwatch.ie for that) AND get information on festivals, etc.

Town and Country has a web site as well, although I'm not sure of the address.
