Dottie,
I just responded to a similar question regarding crafts in Ireland.
The area I visited was Kilkenny and if
you're interested use the TEXT SEARCH and type in lace-pottery-craft areas in the Republic of Ireland. Hope my suggestions there may be of some help.

Dotty,
We stayed in Donegal town, and were in search of tapestries. They suggested going to Killybegs west of Donegal Town, we didn't cause the bus connection wasn't great on a weekend and they cost more than we wanted... But, you may want to check it out. Dongegal town had some lovely art galleries with many different types of arts. Have Fun!

You shouldn't have any trouble finding what you're looking for. Just stay out of the touristy looking shops. Simply wander around just about any town of reasonable size and you should stumble upon original art, handmade pottery, etc.
