I'm glad to know other people are befuddled by the CDW coverage with MC. Had the run around from the bank to MC and finally have the letter from MC showing coverage in Ireland if the car rental company accepts that coverage. AutoEurope placed our reservation with Europcar Ethnic at a rate that beat Thrifty. Called the Dublin Airport desk of Europcar Ethnic and was told that they will accept MC, will not charge the 2000E but will first check for pre-authorization with MC to see if we have enough credit available for the cost of damage to the car. So if there's a problem, we will be charged for the repair then get reimbursement from MC. I'm still not clear if MC provides theft coverage and the amount of the deductible. Just in case we're buying theft coverage. We'll be renting a Ford Mondeo for 13 days at a cost of about $350! Any advice on this one?

Rented at SNN through Auto Europe picked up car at Europcar. Nissan Primera for 4 people--large enough, insurance through Master Card Platinum. Drove with left side mirror pulled in much of the time for a couple extra inches. Airport pick up fee, another fee, plus extra driver fee. All went well.
