ireland itinerary
my husband and I will be traveling sept. 17th-25th.we are flying into dublin,(spending 2 nights)then renting a car and staying at varioud b&bs on the way, then flying out of shannon. How should I route the must sees, with how much time alloted for each area? we are in our 30's, like scenic things, interesting towns, with some castles, also love good food(any names of better restaurants in dublin would be appreciated)Also any better b&b info. would help. thank you.

You might want to read some of the recent posts about itinerary help to get a good idea.. there are a number of threads that discuss the southwest and west parts of Ireland, which would be suitable for you... I think you'll have a lot of answers if check some of those first.. then once you have a rough itinerary plotted, people here can help you more with that specifically.
My preference would be to go south from Dublin and head around the coast and up the west coast, up to the Cliffs and surroundings and back down to Shannon to leave. There's lots of helpful discussions about those routes already within the last 25-30 threads in "ireland" topic, so see what interests you and form a plan from that so that we can help you narrow it down later. Have fun!

Just route the "must-sees" from east to west, heading south, not straight across the country. Places to consider: Glendalough (a must to see the ruins, I think!), Kilkenny, the Rock of Cashel (more jaw-dropping ruins), Killarney (Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park, which includes Ross Castle), the Cliffs of Moher, and Dingle/the Dingle Peninsula.

I would add Mizen Head in there, and maybe Beara Pn, instead of Ring of Kerry.
The other stuff mentioned are all great, as those were all places we visited and loved.
With only you 5 days (outside of Dublin) you'll be moving along quickly though, so if you don't mind that, you'll be ok...

Road signs are difficult and roads are narrow and tricky so alot plenty of time. In my experience in Ireland there's little need to stick to a firm itinerary - Ireland is about meandering, soaking in the beauty and the culture. Make stops at Blarney castle, Aran Islands, Clonmacnoise - those were my favs. Best to you.
