Sandra, Don't yell (use lower case). Assuming you are driving, from Shannon head west, overnight in Adare, you'll need to get acclimated to driving on the left; then on to the Dingle, stay in Dingle town; day 2 the Ring of Kerry, stay in Kenmare; day 3, along the coast and stay in Kinsale; day 4, head to Cashel (Rock of Cashel); day 5 to Dublin, via Waterford.

Sandra,

Dingle is about a 3-3 1/2 hour drive from Shannon. If you think you can make it to Dingle and the weather is good, by all means do so and do not waste a day.

I would stay 2 nights in Dingle, one to recover from jet lag. You will want to drive all around the Dingle Peninsula, much less touristy than the Ring of Kerry. Depart Dingle and head north for the Tarbert car ferry. Drive along the coast and view the cliffs of Moher. You could spend night 3 in Doolin or that area. Tour the Burren a bit then head for Galway for the night.
If you feel like that is too much, you could just head back to Dublin and spend the remainder of time until your departure. You will have a wonderful time.

I would highly recommend flying Shannon for several reasons :
- The option of flying into Dublin is fine . But , Dublin is just another big city - and to see the real beauty of Ireland you must travel west anyway , so why waste moey on travelling west when you can fly directly into the west of Ireland ?

Also , @ the moment Shannon is being flown over by many airlines because it is cheaper to land in Dublin -fair enough , but 1000's upon 1000's of jobs and livelihoods ( direct + indirect ) depend on the airport @ Shannon .

The people the west of Ireland are a very warm , soft people who love to meet and talk with new people . the west is the best from Kerry to Clare to Galway to Mayo to Sligo to Leitrim to Donegal .
There is so much to do and see in these counties alone - if you want to hit the ' big smoke ' !! then go to Dublin - but , if you want to relax , have an outrageous nightlife and see onte the most beautiful places in the world stick with the West !!!!

The decision is yours !
HI Sandra.
Richard and Cathy both gave you excellent ideas. They are both very good. But I think I would favour Cathy's idea. See Dingle then head to Tarbert for the car ferry and head for the Burren , see the cliffs of Moher and stay in Doolin. Visit McCanns Pub and Connors pub in Doolin. Have fun

Sandra, In Dingle, the Greenmount B&B is wonderful and cheap! Ask for a room facing the water.

Hello Sandra

We had the wonderful experience of spending 10 days in Ireland this past summer on a bus trip. We flew into Shannon, which was not crowded (if you have the option, fly in and out of Shannon round-trip; that way your airfare should be less than flying into one city and out of another. Our trip took us across country to Dublin and then back to Shannon (about a half day's drive from Dublin to Shannon). Our favorite places were the Cliffs of Moher, Erin Isles, Dun Aengus (an old fortress), Connemara, Galway, Adare, Dingle Peninsula (breathtaking). Be sure to see the view from Lake Killarney!! We also visited Cobb in County Cork. There is an interesting museum to the Titanic there. As for crystal, if you want good quality "Waterford look-alikes" go to the Ambassador Irish Crystal cottage in Butlerstown County, Waterford. The guy who makes the crystal was once employed at the Waterford factory. Whatever you do it should be fantastic! Ireland is a beautiful country with warm, friendly people. Have a wonderful trip!!!
