Ireland from East Coast?
Now that Aer Lingus has ended service from BWI, does anybody in the D.C. area have advice on next best way to fly to Ireland? We really liked the non-stop convenience of Aer Lingus, if not the sometimes dismal service.

Also, since Sceptre, CIE, etc., always use Aer Lingus in their package deals, I assume those of us who don't live near any of AL's other East Coast gateways are out of luck on the best deals? Anybody hear whether the tour companies are making arrangements with other carriers in light of AL's cutbacks?

I think you're going to have to connect somewhere, whether it's New York or London.

I thought that route was really popular. Sad that it's been pulled.

But check with United. They were doing some direct flights to Dublin out of Dulles. Don't know if they're still flying that route.

Jane,
here's an email I received this morning advertising some good deals to Ireland. It's unfortunate that none of these prices are for a BWI departure, but perhaps you should check out their web site for additional departure cities. Are there any inexpensive ways to get from BWI to JFK?
Good Luck,
Giovanni

Sale Fares to Ireland.....How Low Can They Go ?
Book by Nov 30th
All fares are round trip and plus tax

Jan 1st to Feb 8th
JFK/BOS $198
Chicago $248
Los Angeles $298

Feb 9th to March 31st
JFK/BOS $218
Chicago $268
Los Angeles $318

Maximum Stay 7 Days....Flights via Aer Lingus Irish Airlines

Some fares from other cities with stays of 3 months. Thanks for all your suggestions. I just learned that Sceptre, at least, is still offering 2002 departures from BWI at the same price as last year, although the trip will now involve taking Continental (I think) from BWI to Boston, then transfering to Aer Lingus. I give them lots of credit for not raising the price. I'm glad to see that they're making the effort to keep Baltimore/D.C.-area travelers happy -- there are a lot of us out there!
