Ira & All--Florence to CT Question

We are staying in Florence for 3 nights, and then want to travel to CT before heading back to Rome. Since we have accommodations paid for in Rome, would it work to head out from Florence early Sunday morning (June), hike between the 5 towns, and then take a train back to Rome in the evening? We had originally planned on staying in CT Sunday night and then heading to Rome on Monday, but I would rather save the apartment cost in CT (family of 6) so that we can do other things? Let me know if this itinerary would work. Thanks!

Hi tracy,

It is not something that I would recommend.

If you take the 07:51 from Florence, you will be in Riomaggiore at 10:14.

The 17:33 from Riomaggiore will get you to Rome at 22:28.

The next train to Roma TE leaves at 00:23.

PS,
Have you considered training to Orvieto for the day?

1:30 hr from Florence, 1:00 hr from Rome.

I think that the kids will like it.

Should I do Orvieto rather than CT? I have 4 boys, and I think they would enjoy the hiking in CT, but we are open to suggestions. Also, if I do go to CT, should I book some place to stay now or wait until I get there? Which town should we stay in?

Thanks! We are getting excited for our trip!!
