Innsbruck for Christmas - accomodation suggestions please
We will be in Innsbruck for 3 nights (including Xmas) and are looking for accomodation suggestions. Would like either a hotel or apartment and we are on a budget so will have to steer clear of top end stuff.
I saw what looked like a fantastic hotel (Hotel Grauer Bar) but have been scared off by reviews of "bed bugs"!!!!
Ideally - within walking distance of the town centre & we are a family of 4 with older children.
Also . . . any suggestions for what to do or where to enjoy a meal on Christmas day / evening would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Hi,
While I can't help with the questions of where to stay in Innsbruck or where to go for Christmas dinner, I just wanted to share our photo's of Innsbruck's Christmas Markets. We visited them a few times in November 2010 during our stay in nearby Hall in Tirol. Innsbruck was beautiful at this time of year and while it was very cold, we simply had a great time. We hope to do it again.

Two very nice hotels in the Altstadt / Old City area are especially nice during the Christmas time.
Certainly nice but I would not say over the top.
With such a Holiday , it makes it extra special to walk outn into the pedestrain zone and quickly be by the Christmas market, Christmas Tree , and activities.
Goldener Adler always seems to have good food also. I would think an ideal place for a Christmas dinner .
Restaurants on the ground and first floor - first floor more festive - reserve
Close to the train station is the Ibis Hotel, this part of a regional chain - nice clean , well located and easy walking to the activities and Altstadt

Another vote for Weisses Kreuz - great central location and good breakfast. For my photos of Innsbruck, including the view from my hotel window (nos. 25-27) see http://kwilhelm.smugmug.com/Travel/E...tria-Innsbruck - although your family wouldn't fit the rooms with the bow windows you'd still get the view from the dining room.
