inn to inn walking trips

Has any on this board done any inn to inn walking/hinking trips? I was thinking about doing somthing like this next year- in Germany, austria, czech repubulic, or mabye switzerland - does anyone know of a good company that provides these. I prefer self-guided over escorted tours?

I think ATG-Oxford does this type of hiking tour. I have never taken a tour with them, but I've heard that their trips are very good.

Well I have used ATG Oxford and cannot speak too highly of them. My only criticism is that the food they organise can be excessive: a criticism I thought was impossible to make of any organisation before meeting ATG.
Their escorts are excellent: well-briefed (on history, nature, safety and group leadership) enthusiasts, as far from the stereotype of escorts as you could imagine.
PS: I an NOT on their payroll

thanks for the suggestions guys. but I have a question? flanneruk - What do you mean:
"the food they organise can be excessive" Do you mean that they give you to much? or it is not good?

ATG looks like is have good trips - but I am actually looking for an non-escorted tour, sherpas looks like the best for me - but they don't have a Czech republic trips(walking anyway) - which is my my first choice of destinations.

ATG do non-escorted tours. They have some sily brand name for them on their site, which takes a bit of patience to navigate around.
My experience is that the deal they offer in the hotels involves considerable quantities of good-to-excellent food. Not so much in excessive quantities, but in such extraordinary richness that even I (and I'm notorious as a trencherman) started to struggle. But the menus, and the accompanying hooch, had been put together with such care that it would have been both churlish and philistine to tinker. A bit like asking the custodians at the Sistine Chapel for an optical filter so you could see the ceiling a bit less garish. Or the "too many notes" line from Amadeus.

I looked at atg's self guided and they seem very good - escpecially the amalfi coast one. They also seem to have good prices. but they don't do germany, czech, poland, or even switzerland on the self guide. The escorted tours are out of our price range.
It sounds like you thought the food was good but you would prefer more variety and choice instead of everything bieng handpicked for you.

It looks like the most of the self guided - do not include dinner at all.(which is fine for me)

I think Exodus (exodus.co.uk) also does self-guided tours. I've taken a guided tour with them and was very pleased.
