Inland towns off the beaten path
Wife and have planned out our Ireland journey up to about Doolin, on the west coast. From there we could go on up to Galway, Westport or Donegal.
Since all our driving up to that point will be coastal I was wondering if anyone had found an inland town off the beaten path that really struck their fancy.
Please share your out of the way discoveries with me.

Westport itself is a delightful town. I don't know if it's out of the way, but the path is certainly less beaten than Doolin. It's also near, but not on, the coast.
Almost anywhere on the Connemara would be a great stopover. The area around Delphi is very attractive.
