Inexpensive lodgings for mom with 3 sons

Hi, I'll be traveling through Europe with 3 teenage sons from July 19-August 9th. Major cities will be London,Paris,Jungfrau region in Switzerland,Munich, Rome, Venice, and the Tuscany area. Can you recommend cheap hotel,B & B's, or hostels that will be safe and fun for all? Will will be traveling by rail. Thanks!!!

Rick Steves "Europe Through the Back Door" is all about finding those charming out of the way spots that are mostly run by mom and pop and are not costly. He has a website at www.ricksteves.com
then www.eurotrip.com has a forum on hostels

Check out the following website:

www.icsl.ac.uk/support/universityhalls.htm

It lists universities in London that rent out their student dorm rooms (residential halls) each summer. Rooms vary from single to double to group-sized acommodation.

Good Luck!

That's a lot of travelling in 21 days. Did two countries with three kids in 23 days and we had some cranky times here and there, mostly due to exhaustion. Don't try to see everything and build some time into the schedule to hang out on the beach or in a park. Have fun. I recommend hostels but can't recommend any specific ones for those countries. Check out the Eurotrip hostels forum. Oh, and make sure each kid carries their own luggage and can run with it when needed if you're taking trains. Limit them to one 22" wheelie bag and one backpack. It can be done and you will NOT regret it.

In the Junfrau region I recommend the Eiger Guesthouse in Muerren. You have to take a funicular up there (not covered in the rail pass). They have very small bunk rooms which are reasonably priced for Switzerland.
