Indianapolis GTG this summer?

OK, all you Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois Fodorites (or anyone else who wants to come into town):
Last winter we had a GTG in Louisville, and this year I'm proposing one in Indy.

Indytravel, mermaid, kybourbon, starspinners, rex, and anyone else who's interested-- when's a good time for you? What about Saturday, June 18?

That's fine with Rob and me. The weather will be wonderful by then, too.

Ah! You picked right between two wedding weekends for me (nieces this summer, not our own daughters)! I'll try to be there.

Let's get the e-mail "circle" going. There have been a number of (new) Ohio River vally Fodorites identified in the past year. In a week or two, maybe re-post this as "Indiana / Kentucky / Ohio / Michigan / Illinois GTG?"

Best wishes,

Rex

Marcy - Did you see Judy's offer to host at her house and provide champagne and limoncello? She posted on David's trip report today.

Lara,
I did see her offer, and it IS tempting.

I'd love to have it in Indy, since the last one was in Louisville, but let's see where most people will be coming from and then choose.

I'm looking forward to seeing everybody, and hope to meet some new ones, too!

I am marking my calendar. I will try like heck.
My cousins live in that neck of the woods and are always trying to get me to visit.

Oh, dear, this is the weekend after I return from Italy. I don't think it's likely that I can leave, even for an overnight that soon after my return. Good idea, though, Marcy. Please keep me in mind.

I'm in!

Any European Fodorites interested? It'll be a great weekend. A GTG on Saturday and the Formula 1 race on Sunday. The euro's strong right now so come on over.

Dave,
I didn't realize there was a car race in Indy that weekend... but then I live in Louisville.. all I know about are horse races. ;-)

Marcy,
I'm planning to be at the June 18 GTG ( My husband and I had thought to make this a mini get away and spend the weekend instead of driving up to Indianapolis in the morning and back in the evening.)
But after I read Dave's post about the Formula One race I did a cursory check for hotel availability on the June 18/19 weekend. It appears that rooms are scarce.
The hotel situation is going to be tough on the Fodorites who want to come to the GTG but who live too far away from Indy to make this a day trip.
Do you have any other dates in mind for an Indy GTG?

The 18th is good for me, and I would like to bring my daughter Lisa who came with me last year. I live in Louisville and like Judy's offer, but Indy is okay, too.

If it develops into a "bring a dish" occasion, my thing is chocolate. Triple fudge cake, anyone?

Hi, I'm new here. I've lurked on the message board off and on for some time but have never actually posted. Your GTG in Indianpolis caught my eye though. As my name suggests, I'm an Indy resident and would love an opportunity to meet some fellow travelers, although I may seem like a novice compared to those among you who are more well-traveled. Anyway, is everyone welcome or just those who are frequent posters?

Just a little about me. I'm a 35 year old attorney here in the city. I started traveling to Europe about five years ago and now I'm hooked. I've been to Spain, Ireland (3x thanks to a long-distance romance with a Dubliner that's since ended), London, Edinburgh and, most recently, Paris. I'm returning to Paris in September and can hardly wait. I like traveling solo, although there are some destinations for which I'd prefer to have a companion. I love doing my homework about a destination, and really appreciate all of the suggestions that are posted on the site. So many places to go, so little time. . . .

Well, that's all for now. Have a good day.

Katherine

Welcome Katherine! Sounds like you've made it around Europe quite a bit.

Anyone may attend.

Even people that have never traveled but want to be talked into it.

Please come, Katherine! The more around the table, the merrier. I've never been to a Fodors GT but I do know marcy and indytravel, and they both give the thumbs up to how much fun they are.

Thanks Mimi!

Am I really warm or is it the flush from the wine?
