I based in Ortisei two summers ago. It is very easy to get trail maps from your hotel and/or the tourist info center. My hotel provided the Mobil Card too--I would think many do.

Never having hiked much by myself before, I was worried but I needn't have been. The tourist infrastructure is great. I lucked out with consistently sunny days with blue skies. I hope you have a great trip. I loved it.
