In need of large rooms...

I am traveling with my family (there are 5 of us including 3 teenagers) to Paris this summer. The Latin Quarter looks fun, but I keep hearing the rooms, though nice, are small. Since there are 5 of us, what are our options? Has anyone stayed in a quadruple? Has anyone stayed in an apartment? We begin our trip with 4 nights in Paris and come back 3 weeks later for two more nights before we fly out. I know I have to make two separate reservations. Perhaps an apartment the first time and a hotel the second? Also, we will be there in June and July. I've heard you have to keep the windows closed in order to have quiet to sleep. I guess A/C is a must? Thanks in advance!

Hi if you search on this forum for
hotel Palais de Bourbon you will find many favorable comments, including its suitability for families. I have not stayed there but I read that it has quad rooms that are larger than average, reasonable prices. Ask for a room with a new (large) bathroom). Has elevator, not sure about a/c.
You can also look for comments at
www.paris.org
Randall, I went to your website and the two bedroom looks perfect. I'm afraid it won't work though. We arrive Sat June 23 midday and will leave to explore other parts on Tues June 26. We return to Paris on Fri July 13 and our plane departs Sun July 15. I believe you rent by the week and according to your availability calendar you're booked anyway. I wish I could work this out. Anyone else know of apartment deals personally? I will research apartment links mentioned here. ButI'm looking for personal experience. Thanks.

An apartment would be ideal for you, but I doubt it will work, as everybody rents by the week, usually Saturday to Saturday. I'd suggest you contact hotels and ask for chambres communicantes, two double rooms with an adjoining hallway and bath - many hotels have them. If noise is an issue with you, I'd stay away from the Latin QWuarter, which is one of the noisiest areas of Paris, and look instead for a hotel in, for example, the 7me or 16me arrondissements.

I respectfully disagree that you should avoid the 5th. Your teenagers will like it. Just ask for rooms facing a courtyard rather than the street. the 6th and 7th are also popular areas of course. The 16th, though lovely, would be a little too middle-class residential in my opinion.

Dear Jae,

We may still be able to work something out for your first 3 days in Paris. Our availability calander reflects our stay in the apartment sometime during the last week in June. These dates are flexible and we could accomodate your first visit, i.e. June 23 through June 26. We want to spend a few days in the apartment ourselves before we head south for a wedding. The newly weds will then be spending the period in July 13 - 19 in the apartment as part of the "Lune de Miel".

Contact me privately by email. I would love to see your family have a wonderful time in Paris.

If need be we can also talk by phone at my expense.

Sincerely,

Randall Smith
