In Holland and Yes, Tulips and a great hotel find

Arrived in Haarlem this PM from Antwerp. Booked Stempels Hotel and it was one of the better things I did on this trip. I booked a standard room at 95 Euro at this Haarlem 3* and was upgraded to a superior. Stempels is located just off the Markt next to the Philharmonic Hall. Our room, #21 is on the quieter side of the building, on the second floor, double glazed and no noise at all from the otherwise party time square below. The decor is modern and very nice in tones of grey, black, tan and white, black leather chairs with a thoroughly modern bath. AC and an elevator too. I'll post pictures on return. Room #20 would be the same. The hotel is a rather uninteresting 10 minute walk to the train station and another 15 minute train ride into Amsterdam. The prices here are far better than in Amsterdam I am told. We will find out tomorrow.

Although most of the tulip fields are done (did see one in yellow and full bloom)the tulips in Keukenhoff are mostly in full bloom. They look as if they will be in full bloom for another week.

Later, B'stoke.

BTW, each room comes with a like new Dell Computer for our posting pleasure - free. Free wi-fi too but I don't know why one would need it.

One would use free wifi to check tomorrow's weather forecast, train schedules, Fodors (duh), and email, for starters.

True, I guess I was not clear. The hotel has equipped each room with a free workstation where one can already do all of that. I am using it now. In addition they give you a code to use the wi-fi if you have your own laptop.

As I said on your post on the US forum, glad to hear you are enjoying your trip - you certainly can't complain at the weather

oh - well, maybe the code helps people who have files or work stored on their laptop, so it's easier to work from their own computer than the furnished one. It is very nice to have one provided, though.
