I'm really stupid about cell/mobile phones. Can you explain some things to me?

If you're going to be in a couple of countries or perhaps make several trips to Europe riiing is probably the best answer.
It is nonsense to see their callback system is complicated..you dial the number as usual hang up and wait for the phone to ring back to you and you will hear the ringing tone or the busy tone. Big bloody deal to save the money you save.
Telestial is the most absurd place to get a riiing sim and pay their triple the price mark up as with almost every other sim they sell. Go to ebay and get a riiing sim for $35 or thereabouts with €15 worth of calls...
Go to prepaidgsm.net and get lots of information on money saving ideas on riiing that brings calls to the US down to as little as 12¢/minute with free receiving of calls throughout western, central and eastern Europe as well as Australia, South Africa and China.....
Of course if the phone is only for emergencies and not something you intend to use, the t mobile and cingular overpriced roaming systems might be of interest.
But let me add something that you may not be aware of....every 10 year old kid in Europe it seems has a mobile phone which means working and functioning pay phones are becoming fewer and fewer and fewer and calling from hotel rooms, even with a calling card, can be very expensive....

thanks xyz123, I'm learning. I'm now thinking it would be nice to have a phone that's useable at a reasonable /minute rate. We'll be with friends and they could get a phone and be able to reach. I'm going to search ebay and see what happens! thanks again.
