we are on the fence but will probably cancel our trip planned in a month and a half. People may think that is so far away that everything should be okay, but some military action is inevitable and we'd prefer to be home in the USA rather than in a foreign country when war breaks out. who knows how long we'd be stuck. given that US embassys were closing during the terrorist attacks due to the fear that they'd be hit, I wonder where we'd go for help. <BR>I still have the hesitations with flying...doing away with curbside check in and taking away nail clippers isn't that reassuring. Until the FAA enforces stronger security at the metal detector/ checks (ie, not $7/hr paid employees but police officers doing the checks), and ways to tie names on the 'wanted' lists to passenger lists, not much has changed. <BR>On the flip side, if these awful terrorists wanted to do something, they'd probably find some way. <BR>Everyone has to do what they feel comfortable with and that is completely an individual thing.

Well said, Dan! Someone chastised me on another thread for presuming to know what the terrorists want, but I feel almost certain that, as I said, they'd be rubbing their bloody hands in glee thinking about how people have changed their plans out of fear or terror. After all, we don't call them terrorists for nothing. Isn't creating terror and fear their raison d'etre?

My husband and I are still going to europe in Nov. if our flight is on schedule, and there are no official travel warnings posted.

In this country people have the right to decide for themselves whether or not they want to continue with their vacation plans. It's called freedom. <BR>Why are you berating each other over vacation plans. Haven't you learned anything this week?

I have been planning on studying overseas in Scotland now for over a year, and I have had many points of view given to me in the past week. Some say "go, have a great time, don't live your life in fear." Others say "You can't go now, it's too dangerous and you need to be here in the USA in case something happens." I have debated on whether to just stay here and miss a semester, but why should I give up the oppurtunity and instead wait here in the U.S.? I am a very patriotic person and I have been grieving over the attacks just like everybody else. My heart goes out to the victims and their families, but just because I want to go overseas doesn't make me any less American. You should live life to the fullest and enjoy it while you can.
