Sorry I missed your earlier question. Honestly, I don't know if I was or not and that is the problem I have with this situation.

IMO, just because "The City Police Authority Of Zurich" say that I was does not necessarily make it so unless I am willing to accept that their system is perfect and mistake proof.

A simple photo of the infraction would put the case to rest. However, in most cases like this authorities make it as difficult as possible for you to fight your case because IMO, these cases are nothing more than just a source of revenue.

I gather from the postings of many here they are simply willing to accept what an authority or local government states as the truth, I am just not as willing to do so.

Again from "simpsonc510" posting, you can see that mistakes can be made by the police and rental car companies unless of course you are also willing to attempt to discredit that posting too.

As far as I know Fodor's is still a site to share one's travel experiences. If others like yourself see it as "whining" then so be it.

I will continue to post my experiences and I'm sure that many who claim not to like them will continue to read them.

You will always be welcomed to post your comments. I do find it interesting how everyone takes something different from them.

I am sure it surprises you and others that not everyone is a critic or an expert on everything that I post.

Hope to continue to read your input on my future postings. I do get something from all of the comments including yours even if I do not agree with them

I had a friend who got one of those surprise tickets or two when driving in Europe. He wasn't happy either. He was far from an unsafe driver.

I wonder if this is the same Australian company in Europe as in the western US. Many of the California cities have had their cameras removed. It turned out that the entity making the most money was the Australian company, little revenue went back to the government after taking into account the cost of defending the tickets. And there were legal issues which made them easy to fight. But then due process is a bit more important in the US than in Europe. Isn't that sort of why we are a separate country and not a colony anymore?

What Australian company? European speed cameras operated by the police and/local government.

I'd trust a fine from a European speed camera more than one from Bubba the Hick in his cop car in Smalltown USA.

I do understand photos for running a red light, but I also don't understand what a photo would show for speeding. A picture of your car license plate with a number supposedly representing your speed at the time? I've never been caught by a speed camera, so I really don't quite get what a photo would prove exactly.

1. Don't speed - it kills people
2. Boycotting a country because you were essentially told in a friendly manner to "Enjoy your stay" by someone who may or may not have known you still had one more immigration inspection coming up is ridiculous beyond belief
3. Boycotting a country because they actually enforce speeding regulations - even more ridiculous
4. Get over yourself
5. Actually I am sure any country you choose to boycott for your absurd reasons would probably be relieved about your decision. No-one enjoys dealing with self-important overly-entitled people.

It shows the driver. I think in Germany speeding photos which are blurred or otherwise don't identify the driver normally don't lead to tickets.

European countries differ a lot considering speeding. For example in Germany you're a hindrance to traffic if you drive less than 20km/h above the speed limit in restricted zones outside of cities. The reason is that the fines are pretty low if you're speeding like that. The main penalty is the loss of your driving license if you speed even more.

But Switzerland has a zero tolerance policy and you pay like heck for even a few kilometers above the speed limit.

We recently had a newbie who did not know that using capitals is like shouting. Generally we don't shout a lot on this site and the number of Trolls are very low and blatant advertisers are triangled out in minutes so chill guys. Chill.

You may not see the value in trip reports. Others here do.
