Ideas for special birthday dinner in Dijon?
We're looking for a really good restaurant in which to spend my husband's May 29th birthday in Dijon before we start a barge cruise. I know there are a number of 1-star Michelin restaurants and also some listed as "Gastronomique" and/or "Gourmet." We LOVE tasting menus...so if any of you foodies have suggestions, we're all ears!
Merci bien,
Diane

I probably should not recommend a restaurant in which I have not dined but when in Dijon our apartment was near Le Pre aux Clercs, which is located in the Place de la Liberation across from the beautiful Palais des Ducs. It has a Michelin star and enjoys an excellent reputation.

(just a bit off topic, sorry Oregon Maiden, but grandmere, did you stay in Coco's apartment?)
And just make up for taking your thread off track, it's not fancy but we had a lovely dinner at Cafe Leon, on the street next to the Market (at least that's what I remember).

Happy birthday to your husband Diane! You're right about one star restaurants, grandmere gave you one already.
I will add Stephane Derbord http://restaurantstephanederbord.fr/en/les_menus.html# that my guests really enjoyed (the 25€ lunch menu as well as dinner menus) and also le Chapeau Rouge which has a menu degustation menu with 7 or 10 dishes http://www.chapeau-rouge.fr/restaura...te-d-or-p6.htm Hard choice!
Grandmere and Goddess, how funny to see you together here! you were in Dijon in Sept 2006 and May 2007! Time flies! Goddess it was Chez Leon rue des Godrans exactly and they mostly cook Lyon specialities. Bon appétit!

Since we arrive on a Monday (and neither Chapeau Rouge nor Stéphane Derbord is open), I'm thinking we should stay at Hostellerie du Chapeau Rouge, book dinner for Wednesday at Chapeau Rouge and perhaps lunch the next day at Stéphane Derbord before we roll onto our "Wine & Water" hotel-barge Wednesday afternoon for yet more comestibles
For That Monday, would Chez Leon be a good choice? or ??????
Merci encore,
Diane
