nancyclare, is there a reason you have two posts for the same thing? Do know that if you mislabeled or otherwise need a post edited, you simply have to contact the editors. They're usually super-quick about making any changes - notice the tag on your other post is already changed to Iceland from Netherlands. You might want to ask the editors to remove one of these entirely, or you will have dueling threads!!

have you looked at Trip advisor?

i just googled TA - hotels in Reykjavik - and picked 2 random nights in May. the top one [rated no 3] came out as being from £140 per week, not too bad for Iceland, which is very expensive. here's the link:

In May 2010 we booked Luna – Hotel Apartments http://www.luna.is/english/ for 80 Euro / night. The location is very good. However, we did not stay there, as I asked the hotel (just one week before our arrival) if the hotel has elevator. They answered that there is no, but they told me that they have a large group for 2 weeks and all of them want to stay together in Luna, so, they can move me to their other property Hotel Odinsve. www.odinsve.is
WE agreed and without any extra price, we received a suite there in this very nice and clean hotel.

My daughter and her husband stayed in Apartment K in Reykjavik and loved it. There was a choice of several apartments, all located in town within a block of restaurants and other services. Much cheaper than the hotels. Check tripadvisor.com for more information and to see photos.
