GOTG or others: I leave for Iceland this Thurs. night and cant' wait. I've heard that there is almost no need to even get cash at the airport--that everything, even little $2US equivalent charges can readily be put onto a credit card. Can anyone share their experiences and advise to what extent, if at all, I should plan to get cash?

MinnBeef - We were there last year. I took a small amount out at a bank ATM. We were doing a walking tour and I wanted $ for a tip. On the tour, most people were tipping in USD or Euro. The guide said it was fine. The day we left I hurried around buying chocolate to use of the rest of the Krona. I did the same thing in Norway. The next two countries we didn't use any cash at all.

When I arrived at the hotel, I changed a 100 US dollar bill into Kronos. That was the only money I changed and we spent it here and there. We used my credit card for everything. You really don't need money.
Powhatangirl, I am sure we have! Small world!

<<The Penis museum! Where was that?!>>
Downtown right on the main shopping street. Official name is the Phallological Museum.
Regardibg cash - we withdrew about $200 worth of Kroner upon arrival. We used it for small purchases (coffee, parking, pay toilets, ice cream, Skyr, etc. Had no problem using it all). Used the last bits in the airport on the way out for a bottle of water and a $10 candy bar.
Iceland is well set up for credit cards - just insert and go, but we didn't want our CC company to get suspicious over a bunch of small charges. Not sure if that'd have been an issue or not.

Great trip report, thanks for sharing!
I am heading to Iceland in July for a bachelorette party for 3 days. While I imagine we'll do our fair share of runtur shenanigans at night, I'm trying to think about how best to spend the 3 days. Do you think 1 day exploring Reykjavik, 1 day on a nature tour, and 1 day at the Blue Lagoon on the way to the airport makes sense?
