Iceland Air Sale

Iceland Air has announced fare sales from Boston, Minneapolis, and Baltimore/Wash to Amsterdam, Paris, Oslo, Stockholm for April 3 to May 11 departures and to Frankfurt, Glasgow, and Copenhagen for May 1-11 departures.

Did a quick check and it would be $505 from BWI to FRA in May--includes taxes but not I'm sure about fuel surcharges.

Make that 'I'm not sure about fuel surcharges.'

Thank you for the heads up RufusTFirefly! Now if only they would extend it into July.

We're looking forward to the June sale announcements. It will be interesting to see whether or not there are any this year.

My husband was fortunate to talk with a very helpful/nice customer service rep at United last night. We call United weekly and sometimes even daily to check on fare. Her exact words to my husband were 'don't you dare spend this kind of money ($1184 per) on tickets to Frankfurt.' She said she wasn't 100% (no one ever is) sure that there would be a sale ... but that she would imagine there would be one and that prices couldn't get any higher for Frankfurt than they were now.

To make a long story short ... that gave me hope

I tried some dates in May BWI-FRA. Lowest price it lists is $586. After tax and fees, it's $669.82. Still very good for May. [Not all dates have this fare, others are over $1,000.]

Cheapest fares in May I could find using a consoliodator (onetravel.com) listed the Icelanair fares and for about $50 more various other N/S airlines.

It seems the good airfare to Frankfurt runs through May and then jumps up to $1k or more. The Spring sales are hitting us now .. hoping the summer sales won't be too far behind.

I too am holding out hope and waiting for sales that go into the end of June or beginning of July. I've actually taken the suggestion of someone here and looked at a couple sample transatlantic flights seat availability to see how full these flights really are. the ones I've looked at aren't more than 1/2 full, so it would seem to me that some of these airlines are going to be promoting sale fares eventually.

julies, is there a site you can go to in order to find out how full a flight is or did you call and talk to an agent?

I'm watching the prices daily for travel to Frankfurt/Munich in September. I know the sales probably won't hit til mid summer but I can't wait to get my seat! The past couple of years I've seen tickets from MSP for about $350-400. Hope it's again this year!

katzen--I learned from someone on this forum that if you go to Orbitz and select your flights you can then look at the seats. Thus you can figure out how full the plane is.

sanda24--I'm out of MSP too, and this year is absolutely awful. I have never, ever paid more than about $600 out of here in the past, including peak summer travel, for a ticket. But, I usually wait until 4-6 weeks priior to departure. I don't know if I can do that this year because I absolutely have to be in Europe over a certain date.
