Iceland air
I am considering flying Iceland air to Europe next November. Has anyone had problems with them? Is there any reason why I should not use this airline? Also I was considering a layover in Iceland for two or three nights. Has anyone done this and had good results?

It's a fun way to break up the trip, even if you don't stay for more than the change-over of planes. (Go to the store in the small airport where they have a big tray of salmon for you to sample!
It'll be rather cool in November, I'm assuming.
The airline itself is quite competent.
Do a search of "Iceland" on this site, and you'll find a number of previous posts about what to do during your stay.

I've flown Icelandair a number of times, dating back to when it was known as Iceland Loftleider Airlines. Flights have been perfectly satisfactory; departures and arrivals on time, flight staffing friendly and accommodating, meals and amenities above average. Icelandair frequently offers free overnight stays in Reykjavik with a free half day tour and dinner as well. You might want to explore that option rather than committing to two or three nights at your expense.
For years, the airline was not a member of the IATA, International Air Transportation Association, which sets standards for inflight seating, meals and amenities. As a result, Icelandair offered more roomy seating, better meals and far better value than its competitors.

Hello, Julie!
I have flown Icelandair a number of times. In fact, I beleive it is my favorite carrier. The planes are immaculate, and the fleet seems to be fairly new compared to a number of other airlines.
I would travel with them anytime.
They often offer flights on companion airlines from their hub cities in Europe to other cities for only $89.00

Go for it--both the flight and the layover. I've had no problems with Icelandair, they are cleaner than average, and the layover on the way home is bliss. (but then, I'm partial to Iceland.) It's just a lovely way, to me, to "decompress" after touring and to enjoy some of the most beautiful (did I mention that I'm partial?) nature I've seen.

So reassuring to see these replies! We grabbed one of their fantastic 2/1 specials earlier this winter, and will be leaving next week, r/t Amsterdam. This particular trip, with a 14-day max, I wasn't about to spend any of those days in Iceland (as opposed to...A'dam, Brugge and Paris)...but things I've read on the forum sure make me think an Iceland layover at some point would be a treat. Now...my prayers for the next five nites will end with..."and please let the 'roomier' part still be true!!!"
