Yes, chilling book.

I am in Paris at the moment, because I'm part of the POC21 initiative that's a side program to COP21 (notice the clever inversion there? ) Anyway, it now turns out that the awful attacks were primarily used by the French government to clamp down on climate activists. Not only are protests suppressed, there now are house arrests of climate activists and websites have been taken down. A protest is now defined as a "gathering of at least two people who share the same political viewpoint"

still, lots of things that are very hopeful and make me feel optimistic, but we can stop looking at politics and politicians to save us: as global citizens we'll need to put pressure and act.

France is becoming a fascist state? Over reaction for sure that will backfire - the home of civil liberties and freedom now going down a slippery slope and yes climate activists conveniently were donned into silence.

Uhm yes. FN is winning the regional elections. And also, depending on your ethnicity, France of course always has been the home of civil liberties and freedom selectively.

Desperate times deserve desperate measures but are these really overall desperate enough times to warrant those desperate measures like no search warrants needed to bust into anyone's residence?

a slippery slope - maybe to combat the FN's rise?
