Lori, we'll be there August 23rd, for 6 days. Sounds like you know the city fairly well. I'd love to hear more of what you'd be doing... I've already started taking notes... an outdorr cafe at Place des Vosges, Angelina's for hot chocolate. And, what is chocolat chaud?

Chocolat chaud is hot chocolate and Angelina's serves the best in the world! On the Rue de Rivoli, not far from the Louvre. Be sure and bring some home--they sell the mix in small and large bags. I just bought 2 large bags, one for me and one for a friend. It's too hot right now for chocolat chaud, but wait til the first cool morning---yumm!!

And to round out your chocolate experience,go to Laduree on rue Royale between rue St Honore and Place de la Madeleine
Then after you have shopped and don't miss rue Dragon , Left Bank, for shoes !stop at any small patisserie and pick up a pain au chocolate, take it back to your room, relax with the windows open and listen to the sounds of Paris while you relax and savor your pastry~

Sherry,

Tell you what. Meet me at Fromagerie on Rue de Seine or maybe the little cheese shop on Ile St. Louis. Then we'll head to Paul on Rue de Buci for some bread and dessert. We'll stroll over the Luxembourg gardens for dejeuner. After lunch, some shoe shopping on rue de dragon then down to rue de cherche midi for some only-in-Paris clothes, and then over to Angelina's for some African hot chocolate.

Aahh Le Petit Zinc,my first trip to Paris, the first night there, dinner at Le Petit Zinc. And yes, everything was perfect
Then hope for a rainy day,you will walk over to the D'Orsay, wander around, fall in love with the statue of the angel bending to place a kiss on the forehead of a baby~then go upstairs and have lunch in the restaurant.Don't forget to look up! the ceiling is lovely.
While it is still drizzley and cool, wander along the Seine, see the way Notre Dame looks in the mist, cross over the small footbridge to Ille St-Louis and have tea and pastries or a small quiche at the Salon de The close to Berthillon.
While there, the sun will come out, you can walk across the Pont Neuf, along the Seine with the bookinistes, buy a poster or two, postcards with pictures of Paris from the 50's.You will have all good intentions of sending them to friends and family, but of course, you will keep them for yourself

Um Scarlett were you following us? I know you were the one in the Hermes scarf nibbling on a croissant at the cafe on the corner of Rue du Bac and Boulevard Raspail weren't you?

It was raining the day we went to Musee d'Orsay. The bit about the pictures was great (yep, we kept them all).

Well now that we thoroughly miss Paris. Any help?

How about film therapy? I just dragged a fellow Paris-phile friend to see The Bourne Identity solely because I heard it had great footage of Paris, which it did. (Otherwise, I'd describe it as a travelogue with violence.) For those of you who live in Boston, the Museum of Fine Arts French Film Festival starts in a couple of weeks.

Hmmm, it's not so hot today, maybe I'll go break open that Angelina's chocolate I bought in April that I was saving for next winter. Also, light the scented candle I mail-ordered for way too much money from Fragonard because I regretted not buying it while I was there.

Other ideas?

RE: Film therapy-Ronin is also good.Same idea as Bourne Identity, car chases and all but in Paris!
Now back to eating my way through Paris..
wander over to the Rodin Museum, look through the gardens, then go inside to get a close up look of the Kiss! It is always nice if there is someone with you that you can kiss right about now.
Then over to the Invalides, then on tothe Eiffel Tower where there is man with a small stand making fresh crepes. Mine are usually chocolate, there are many varieties, all are good. While walking along, licking the crumbs off your face, decide which restaurant you would like to dine in tonight.
The hardest choices for me are always-L"Epi Dupin or Thomieux. Then there is Les Olivades and if you want to just feel like you live in the neighborhood, go to Petit St Benoit, the owner will greet you warmly, especially if you have been there before, and th waitress will treat you like one of her children, and the food is good and the company, because you will sit next to someone who will remain a stranger until the main course is served. Then they will chat with you,or use sign language and the rest of the meal and dessert will be spent getting to know them. Then you will leave and that will be that!
Stroll on over to the Seine and just look at the lights, watch the Bateau Mouche silently glide along the river, shining its lights on the buildings.

I posted earlier today on another thread. I was the one who mentioned frosting; there was nothing there to warrant deletion. I don't know who Jessica and Luke are - I'm not trash, and highly doubt that there are either. Others have valid point-of-views too but Fodors does not wish them to be aired. Makes me curious as to why they call these "forums". Bonsoir!

was enjoying this thread and was thinking to myself that this was one of the most truely informatyive threads on paris. Of all the searching n fodors, i have gained as much or more from this one thread than any sibgular activity!!

Then as I continued I started to pondor on how nice and calming the thread was to read and how it felt like it felt when I started using fodors, how everyone is happy, then just as I thought that i read the final few posts and the chocalate went cold, hard and bitter, the cheese went sour and the bread mouldy.

to top it all off, my keyboard is playing up so it makes me look like I can't type or s[ell. hmmm,

thankx for the visions in my mind folks. I am going to paris in Sept and have much more to look forward to now.
