I've been looking at flights to Barcelona for months. Each itinerary had something wrong with it - a 45 minute connection in Frankfurt, a short connection at JFK on the last flight out of the night, flying into LGA and transferring to JFK, flying into Gatwick and leaving from Heathrow 3 hours later, etc. There was no end to the choices of flights, but all were bad. Plus, they were all so early in the day that the kids would have had to miss a half day of school, or we would have had to have left a day earlier.

So, today I typed my dates into aa.com and found flights I can live with. They aren't ideal, but the kids can go to school all day...plus, no transatlantic flight on Iberia! I'm excited! Now, off to find an apartment!!!

We are going March 9-18. With all the taxes, the tickets were $629 each (from DFW). Sounds good to me, considering that to get to Rome in May we paid $1075, before tax. I checked prices later in the day (just for the heck of it) and the same route was $723 before tax. Buying plane tickets is just nuts!

Congratulations! I know how exciting it is when you get the plane tickets because you know you are really going! From a previous post I think we will just be missing each other in Barcelona. If I recall, you will be there the week before we are so looking forward to some tips as soon as you return!
