I can't work!!
Is it just me, or does anyone else have trouble working because of this forum? Since I discovered this site, (while planning for and dreaming about vacations)about three or four months ago, I find myself clicking over incessantly. Does this feeling subside, or get worse?? HELP!!

dear Can't work,
I am one that has found over time, it does subside.
I have myself down to no more than twice a day, sometimes whole days will go by!!
But believe me, it took alot of will power.
But I told myself, that if I could quit smoking cold turkey, I could lick this addiction too.
**But** , this is a great site, I have received wonderful advice/help, and made some friends, too (my first cyber friends!)
Good luck with your "problem"
nancy
We just got an internet service about four months ago. Since I discovered this site, I've been hooked. I'm retired, and have to fight off the urge to read here all the time. I've got a very active life away from this computer, but I'm drawn back again and again. I'm learning a ton. We love to travel, and will use many of the hints I've learned here; e.g., Untours.

It subside for about a week or two after you take a trip. After two weeks of work, you get a bit caught up, you can see the color of your desk, and Fodor comes back on. The planning and dreaming about the next trip kicks in. Then you read some great thread, (like one about this trip to New England, where I am from and have lived all my life, but have not seen or done all this person has done) and off we go.
I remember having to delete the game "solitaire" from all the office computers. Hmmmmm Fodor next.

I am retired, which is very bad because there is nothing to stop me from going to this computer several times a day to check postings. I found the forum by accident while planning for a trip to Spain/France in May. Then, I really needed some advice for Italy in August and took a chance by posting a train question. Of all the guide books I read, this is the only place I found the answer to my questions. Now I am planning for another trip to Paris in Jan. and there is no hope for me to ever break away. So, my vote is, it gets worse.

I think we all feel the same way, or we wouldn't be here! I found the site researching my trip to Central Europe this summer, and I love it, I log on everyday, usually 4 or 5 by the time the day is over to see if there are any "new and interesting posts".

I usually read the posts of interest that I missed from the night before, first thing in the morning, and then throughout the day I am able to check back for any quick updates.

I usually only get away once a year for two weeks due to my job..., so anytime I can feel like I'm traveling is wonderful. Call me a "junkie" but I can't get enough! Thanks Fodorites, for always keeping me traveling even when I am in the office.

YOU ROTTEN PEOPLE! Why do you have to be so nice and informative?? I can't get anything done - this site is addicting! I love it!! So nice to hear real experiences. My husband and I are planning to go to Florence and possibly Rome in Spring or Summer of 2001 and we don't want to take a tour. Thanks for all your suggestions!

This is where "open another window" becomes a beautiful thing! Fodors is just open perpetually on my desktop. I hop back and forth when my mind is wandering, but I seldom take time to read more than a few items before getting back to biz. Of course, I'll be back in 20 minutes or so!

Re: whether the addiction subsides, I have to admit that while it's overwhelming during the planning of a trip, it becomes just a pleasant pastime in between.

Until the next one starts...

You are welcome to borrow by teenagers -since our computer is always occupied. I am limited to early AM and when I drag them off. This is still the best travel site and it is important that I read everything so I can plan our trips for the next century.

It is definitely my lunch time reading of choice. And, if the boss is out, a few peeks during the day. It gets worse when a trip is in the near future - you don't want to miss anything! I love the information I find here - it makes me feel prepared and confident.
