Hungarian cookbook in Budapest (English)
When we travel I always buy a cookbook from the region that I am visiting. Sometimes this has been a challenge to find it in English. Can someone help me when we go to Budapest and Prague? I want to get a Hungarian goolosh cookbook. Does anyone else have this desire to buy these kind of items in foreign countries?

It's goulash, Syl, and it's a dish, not a style. Maybe there are slight variations from family to family, but there's really only one recipe for it (my grandmother's, and she is unpublished). Seriously though, I am unaware of English bookstore in Budapest since I'm still getting to know the town. There is one in Tyn Square in Prague, though, but I recall more serious and of course darker themes; maybe they can refer you.

Hi Fidel,
Yes, I knew that I spelled goulash wrong but I was too tired to think about it. Been a very stressful day. Sure will be glad when two weeks from tonight comes and we are on that plane. Ready to start seeing the sights!
My husbands sister-in-law and her large family (12 siblings) come from Hungary and we talk about the things their parents made when they were younger.
Thanks.

I bought a book with Hungarian recipes in English from the museum (the one at the top of the hill) in Budapest. It was by Karoly Gundel. You can look up his books on Google also (but it won't be like buying it there.) I've found several small cookbooks in English at museum stores and some tourist places, too.
Have a wonderful time on your trip!
