How to work San Marco booking website?

It is my understanding you can book San Marco Basilica through www.alata.it/eng/booking/sanmaco.asp.

However, when I get on the site it does not allow me to put a time and the calendar, no matter which month shows no availability.

Obviously I am doing something wrong. Any suggestions? Does this site only work during normal Italian office hours as I am trying in the afternoon USA time.

Hello sylviam,

I have been trying to make a booking since December. Each time I get the white blank screen as it would appear you're getting as well.

My trip isn't until March, so I have time. I think pretty soon I'll just call them and hope they speak English.

I think it's a simple matter that they haven't updated their website, or else everything for the entire year is already booked, which seems unlikely.

Happy travels!

I wasn't successful with this either, though I assumed it was not booking as far ahead as I needed (June). I'll give it another try later on; it seemed like a good idea, free booking and all. Please post if you sort it out and have any new info and I shall do the same.

I think it was Susan P that suggested this website. Perhaps she will see this and give us some info. Other than that I will keep trying and keep you posted.

I may have just answered my own question. Going back to the home site and looking under San Marco, it says the free booking on the website is available April through December. This is January so it must not work now.

I am e-mailing them to see if they an help.

Hi sylviam, I just tried it as well and put in a random date in Feb. It showed the whole month as closed, which of course can't be correct. If as you say they only do the reservations April-Dec, maybe they just figure nobody needs a reservation Jan-Mar. I'm not sure. That is definitely the website I used to book my reservation for last Sept. Good luck!

Susan P: Thanks at first I thought I was just confused. Looks like I will have to wait until April 1 to get a booking right before we leave.

I guess that is good news for me. I will be there in March. So perhaps the wait times are not so high that they need reservations. Another good reason to go off-season!

Thanks for the update.
